The Italian Club of Hilton Head Island and the Island Recreation Center are proud to announce the first of an annual event, The Italian Heritage Festival of Hilton Head. This exciting event will offer a genuine insight and plenty of entertainment into the Italian American Culture. Held in cooperation with Island Recreation, this is a day of fun, food and entertainment for old and young – Italian or not! Open to all, the festival’s goal is to showcase the Italian heritage through demonstrations of pasta and cheese making, wine tasting, bocce contests, Italian music and dancing among other things. The Italian American Club of HHI (IACHH), a service organization dedicated to developing a better understanding of Italian history and culture as well as assisting local charities in the area with monies raised throughout the year. A Heritage Booth will be the centerpiece of the event and those who wish to learn how to trace their roots (Italian or not) will have the opportunity to visit with a veteran genealogist from the Heritage Library Foundation of HHI at a booth at the festival. Other festivities include “Understanding Italian Myths” and travel opportunities throughout Italy discussed with experienced travel guides. Admission is $5 and food tickets are $1 each. The wine tasting is $10 per person.
